Press release: Snail tour 2006
Snail go on an exotic far eastern tour in July to promote the XIE RECORDS release of their first album, due October 20, 2006. Starting at Sapporo on Japan’s northern island, Hokkaido, Snail work their way down through Japan to Okinawa before crossing into China via Hong Kong. From Shanghai, they then visit Ulan Ude in Siberia on the way to Moscow where the tour ends.
A single release from the album is also under discussion for the second half of July. We will keep you posted.
Talking about the tour, guitarist Jon Klein said: “We’re very excited, of course. XIE RECORDS have been incredible about this. We’ve got a lot of new material and we hope to record the whole thing for a live album to follow next year. Our mate Wes Maebe is going to do the live sound which is great because he does it all binaurally.”
Why Japan, China, Siberia and Moscow Jon? (The Snail website is not scared to ask obvious and awkward questions of its boss!): “ Why not?” was all he said to begin with! “No seriously, the big banker here, we feel, is “Peng You” which is a mandarin song we do that went down pretty well when we played China in 2002. So it was always going to be something in that part of the world, but the actual Chinese gigs are going to have to wait a bit. Christmas or early next year, we hope.”
“The point about Snail” Jon added “is that the formula is great. And the formula is... there is no formula!”.
